The following is a response from the ACT Education Directorate about the future of Learning Support Units (LSU), including LSU-As, in ACT schools ...
Dear Mr Buckley
Thank you for taking the time to contact me. I understand there is a rumour that ACT Education is proposing to close Learning Support Units over the next five years. This is unfounded and untrue. The Directorate will continue to provide units for eligible students in consultation with their parents. While units are not available in all schools, the number and location of units is determined annually by the number of eligible students requesting placements and their residential address.
Parents and carers with children attending Learning Support Units are encouraged to talk to the school if they have any concerns.
I trust this addresses your concerns.
Thanks to Directorate staff for their quick response on this matter.
